Milan is known as one of the world’s biggest fashion capitals, but it also has a wealth of things to see and do. Here are our five must-visit spots to make sure you make the most out of your trip.

Tourism is booming in Milan, especially in recent years, people are now visiting not just for shopping, but to see the history and new additions to the beautiful and busy city.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a lavish, glass-domed roof pedestrian street connecting Piazza Duomo and Piazza della Scala. The iconic building like structure is a must-see if visiting the city and home to high-fashion stores such as Prada and Gucci as well as cafes and restaurants for you to enjoy lunch in.

Convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie

This UNESCO world heritage site is the home to one of the most famous paintings in the world, da Vinci's ‘The Last Supper'. It goes without saying that the convent is always busy with tourists trying to see the mesmerising mural for themselves. The church only allows entry every 15 minutes with a maximum capacity of 30 people at a time so we recommended booking tickets to visit in advance.

II Duomo

Italy has a number of iconic sites for visitors to gaze upon, and Duomo is one of the most important landmarks in Italy. Right in the middle of the city is the magnificent Gothic cathedral, it took over six centuries to complete, the interior is just as striking as the exterior. We say it's worth taking a climb to the rooftop to take in the panoramic view of the city. Adjacent sits the Museo del Duomo, which is a museum dedicated to the history of the cathedral.

Parco Sempion

Milan is a very busy city but if you’ll need somewhere to retreat to for some peace and tranquillity - visit Milan's largest park. There are plenty of kiosks and small cafés for you to sit and watch people pass by. The park is just a short walk from Sforza Castle, one of Europes largest citadels turned museum and art gallery.

Navigli

Southwest of Milan is the charming neighbourhood around a group of canals. This part of the city has a different feel compared to central Milan, the buildings are painted in rusty hues of the yellow and pink and narrow streets are filled with graffiti. Some of the best restaurants and bars are in this area so it's worth a wander around.
